New Camera

I received my new digital camera in the mail yesterday, so I've been taking pics around the house. Here's a pic of the painting in my dining room:

It's by California artist, Jan Smiley.

And one day, I am going to own this piece, which is by my neighbor:

I already own several of his large canvases, but I don't have a piece of his woodworking yet.

Ron Griswold

As I've noted before, the artwork above is by Pensacola artist, Ron Griswold. Here are some more examples of his work:

I have a new haircut...

...and a new hairdresser. Gary has left hairdressing for the theater, and now Jonas is doing my hair. And he did a nice job. (And a fabulous shampoo.) It took him a while to get started, and then it took him a while to cut and style it. When he was done, I had this short, slicked-down Liza Minelli-esque 'do that was pulled forward toward the face on the sides with a subtle part and wind-swept bangs across my forehead.

Jonas, as you might imagine, is very young and very gay. :-)

I'll never be able to recreate the look at home, but I'm pretty pleased with the cut. And besides, did I mention that Jonas does a fabulous shampoo? :-)

My hair is out of control.

It's so bad that even pomade isn't taming the beast. And I can't wear a hat, because the fringe then blocks my view.

I need a haircut, dammit!

Also, I didn't like my avatar, so I have resurrected one of my collected Doris Day icons. Because I love the way they dressed Doris for her romantic comedies.

New Year, New Look

For 2008, I decided to customize my blog a bit. I've added a subtitle and graphics. The artwork at the top is a tryptic by Pensacola artist, Ron Griswold, called "Narcissus". It's one of my favorites. Before he was a fabulously successful artist and represented by a gallery in Birmingham, he sold on Ebay, and I bought several pieces from him. Because I admired this work so much (but could not possibly afford it), he sent me a glossy photograph of the three paintings, which I carry around in my organizer.

Sad, but true.

I've also starting adding links to other blogs that I want to watch, just because they look interesting and because they tend to have a fashion focus. And I luvs my fashion, dontcha know. :-)
